Under NASA’s Small Aircraft Transportation System (SATS) initiative, the AT Division used Umbra to construct a multi-aircraft, human-in-the-loop flight simulation laboratory to validate and enhance the Higher Volume of Operations (HVO) concept.
With Umbra, multiple pilots were able to fly in a simulated airspace testing flight procedures for self-separation and the functioning of the Airport Management Module (AMM) and the Cockpit Associate (CA).
